What
Stage model from survival consciousness to integration and transcendence.
What for
Locates the client's operating level (Survival → Victim → Fighter → Coping → Flexibility → Responsibility → Integration → Spiritual) and what interventions will land.
How it's used
The coach reads which level a client is currently operating from to understand what they're really dealing with and where the intervention needs to begin. In application, the coach also asks the client where they would place themselves ('What's your center of gravity? Where do you spend most of your time in these levels?'). The coach then compares this self-placement to what they observe in the client's physiology and behavior. A mismatch between the two — the client's stated self-perception versus what is actually showing up — often points to a deeper level or pattern at work than the client is consciously aware of. Furthermore, by asking where the center of gravity lies, this framing implicitly positions the client's experience as dynamic, distributable, and observable over time — rather than fixed or identity-bound. It establishes cognitive distance, reduces emotional fusion, and primes personal agency by framing inner states as locations one inhabits rather than traits one is.
