The Blowout Model exaggerates a limiting pattern to the point of absurdity — inside full rapport — until the client cannot take it seriously any more. Where argument strengthens a pattern (the client defends it), exaggeration collapses it through laughter.
What for
Make the limiting pattern impossible to take seriously.
How it's used
The coach takes the client's pattern and amplifies it far beyond its natural size: the catastrophic fantasy is made more catastrophic, the self-criticism turned into a theatrical performance, the rule applied to ludicrous cases. Done with warmth, the client starts laughing at the pattern — and a pattern you have laughed at loses its authority permanently. The rapport requirement is absolute: the coach exaggerates the pattern, never mocks the person.
