How to Elicit Strategies
L5 Micro-InterventionsMaking the invisible recipe visible
What
The elicitation method for strategies: through questions and close sensory observation, the coach uncovers the exact internal sequence (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, self-talk) a person runs to produce a result — how they decide, get motivated, feel loved, or panic. Every consistent result has a recipe; elicitation writes it down.
What for
Make a hidden sequence visible and changeable.
How it's used
The coach asks the client to enter a recent concrete instance and walks the sequence step by micro-step: 'What happened first — a picture, a sound, a feeling? And then? How did you know it was time to act?' Eye movements, gestures and predicates verify the report. Once the strategy is explicit, it can be used deliberately, repaired where it fails, or — with problem strategies — interrupted at its weakest link.
Content
Premise: every consistent outcome runs on an internal V-A-K sequence Method: step-by-step questioning inside a concrete remembered instance Verification through eye accessing, gestures and sensory predicates Output: an explicit sequence that can be reused, repaired or interrupted
