Archetypes
L5 Micro-InterventionsThe role behind the behaviour
What
Work with archetypes — universal character patterns (hero, sage, lover, warrior, caregiver, rebel and others) that shape how a person unconsciously casts themselves in their story. The archetype explains coherent clusters of behaviour that single beliefs cannot.
What for
Reveal the role the client plays in life.
How it's used
The coach identifies the dominant archetype from the client's language, choices and recurring conflicts: the eternal caregiver who cannot receive, the warrior who turns every conversation into combat, the rebel who must oppose. The archetype is honoured for its gifts, its shadow is named, and the client either matures it or deliberately draws on a complementary archetype for situations where the dominant one fails. Gives identity work imagery and depth beyond abstract traits.
